First off, Speedwell really knows how to create a broken hero and show us both his vulnerabilities as well as his hopes for redemption. Deep undercover FBI agent, he infiltrates a ruthless gang in Chicago, and was dominated into a heroin addiction to maintain his loyalty. The slow build of his relationship with Eli works just perfectly and as I reader I was thrilled to see them make it work together.
Eden Finley Narrated by: He was singing something about water, about love running like water, and dancing as if his soul were on fire. One thing bothering me though is that I wish I would have had a bit more time with Josh and Watee together as a couple outside of just the chemistry drawing them in.
And someday Eli would see the real Joshua, and that would be the end of any hope for friendship This wasn’t in any way a easy ride agains a HEA. When they are on the right track though, things are smokin hot. Then, he had to forget all of that and somehow loe to a “normal” life. Uncle Tucker was awesome!! Years later, through ruthless strategy and tireless patience, he’s a contract killer working for the three families ruling Cape Swan He was just so sad.
In this book, Josh, has moved to his uncles ranch to heal from the effects of a long term undercover operation. I enjoyed the slow burn relationship between the two MCs and the angst in this book. The setting is just lovely and we get wonderful details on the ranch, the horses, and the beautiful desert.
Also to see how he heals with all the love and support around him on the ranch. He was one of speewdell standouts for me.
However, he is an open and intelligent man and knows that Eli is gay. There were some pretty spectacular moments of delicious intimacy between Eli and Josh, those two are sizzling hot when they get in on.
Love, Like Water
It wasn’t a badly written book. Beginning gradually and the first half of the book was spent on catching up on history and getting to know both men.
What he had seen and endured had changed him into the person he had to be to survive in that setting. Not sure if there are plans for a rowqn up since the ending left it open for more without all the threads being tied up neatly.
Joshua’s plan seems to work – maybe a fresh start was just what he needed. Josh is an ex-FBI Okay, so this book has gotten mixed review.
But on the positive side the ranch scenes and the back story of Joshua’s time undercover were well detailed.
Review: Love, Like Water by Rowan Speedwell
Jul 18, Awilk -never sleeps- rated it really liked it Shelves: Joshua has had an agonizing three years of undercover work, seeing and doing things no one should have to, he’s come to his Uncle Tucker’s ranch to heal, both physically and more importantly mentally. Josh is an ex-FBI agent.
This book has everything. Don’t like your audiobook?
I felt like a lot speedwdll time went by setting up the story and I would maybe have liked to get to know Eli and Joshua actually together in their relationship for longer than we got, but they have a crazy amount of chemistry that came through for me, and the dynamic works well for them and goes hand in hand with the setting really well.
I’m not good enough for you, so I’m going to push you away and leave.

When the pressure to marry my childhood sweetheart became too much, I told her I was gay and then liie to New York like my ass was on fire. The plot was simple, but this gave me the chance to feel the turmoil in Lofe and the pain he was going through. He is a prime example of how even the bravest and strongest of men can fall to pieces, lose themselves, and struggle to hold onto life.
This is a pretty simple romance in many ways, which I appreaciated, there is enough angstyness in the story to make roaan reader savor the happy ending without the wrung out feeling that books with a premise like this one could leave you with.
The beauty of this story has left me speechless! I went back and checked. Humor, love, some angst, and hot cowboys having hot sex…What more can you ask for really? To get out of their shadows, he accepts a trade to the Harrisburg Railers. But, it did live up to my expectations and ended up being a good read.
